Become A Better Blogger - Go Outside Your Circle

Published: Tue, 05/19/15

Whatever you blog about, you need to step outside your tribe and learn from other communities.

If you blog about food, you can learn something from travel bloggers. If you write daily life journals, you can get inspired by YouTubers.

It doesn't matter what your niche is, you need to regularly get out and see what's happening in the rest of the blogging world.

And for those of us who blog about a little bit of everything, it's even more important for us to learn from really niche bloggers.

But most importantly, we all need to look at what the social media experts who specialize in knowing and teaching the trade are doing on their own sites.

Learn from the Experts for Free

As I mentioned in last week's email, I thoroughly believe in purchasing training courses to learn from experts.

But it's also as important to learn as much as you can for free just by watching and reading their free content.

The other day I wrote a post sharing my 20 favorite social media experts.

I wrote it because I was sending the list to my editor to use for adding content to our twitter buffer. These are the people I look up to and listen to.

Obviously there are more than 20 smart social influencers who I learn from and so I thought I'd tell you a few more.

Here are 10 more social media and internet marketing experts that I think you'll want to follow...

  1. Amy Porterfield
  2. Ryan Deiss
  3. Neil Patel
  4. Melissa Stewart
  5. Nathan Barry
  6. Sandi Krakowski
  7. Noah Kagan
  8. Jeff Bullas
  9. Ann Handley
  10. Gary Vaynerchuk

By watching how these experts write and market themselves, you can learn volumes. They all sell training programs and it's great to watch how they go about selling those products.

(Be careful... it's hard to resist their sales techniques. LOL. I'm not suggesting you start buying tons of training programs. Watch them put their skills to work and learn by example.)

They're all very different from each other. For example, Nathan Barry is a designer, Amy Porterfield is a Facebook expert, and Neil Patel is an entrepreneur who has created multiple hugely successful businesses.

Their styles and tones of writing vary drastically. Noah Kagan is a young hot shot guy who often references his various girlfriends whereas Sandi Krakowski is very religious and talks regularly about her faith.

Now you have 30 phenomenal examples of awesome social media in action.

I suggest you add them to one of your Twitter lists so you don't lose track of them.

By the way, did you notice it is not Monday morning?

I'm testing changing the time I send these emails to Tuesday late morning instead of early Monday morning.

The reason being that Ryan Deiss said in recent email that a disadvantage of sending your emails early in the morning is that people often check email on their phones while still in bed. Then they quickly delete emails to clear their inbox before starting the day.

I'd LOVE to hear what time of day you tend to check emails and if you (like me and Ryan) quickly read a few emails while still in bed in the morning.
