Which do you like to hear first? Good or bad news?
I always like to get the bad news over first.
So I’ll start there…
First off, summer is KILLING my work schedule. I’m ridiculously behind and can NOT catch up. So, as you may have noticed… this email is late and I never sent you one last week. (And, if you’re keeping track, I missed one two weeks ago as well.)
Yes, summer is brutal for a work-at-home mom’s productivity.
Please forgive me…
Okay, so the BAD news is… if you thought you already had too much work to do keeping up with all your social profiles, you now have even MORE work.
And if you’re like me and all your social
profiles add to your perpetual distraction and struggle to get your projects finished, this is even worse.
But that source of the bad news is also the reason for the good news.
You know what I’m going to say, don’t you???
YES!
Periscope.
Boom. Life changed. Business changed. Social media changed.
This is BIG girls.
But the GOOD NEWS is... YOU are here at the beginning of it.
(Well, okay… we’re 4 months late, but still this is basically the beginning of the exponential growth of Periscope.)
A couple of weeks ago, when
BlogHer15 and the other conferences and events such as BBNYC and Getting Gorgeous hit New York, I was online tweeting away and watching on Instagram.
Getting Gorgeous was the first event to start, and while I was tweeting, all of a sudden, I saw a Periscope notification.
(I’d signed up
couple months earlier, but had never actually used it.)
I clicked through and watched as one of my friends, I think it was Jill Amery, showed me around the room of the Getting Gorgeous event.
I saw and heard my friends in a most casual and live, unedited, in-the-moment way. While I was on
the opposite coast, in another country, I felt just like I was at the event.
For the rest of the week, I continued to tweet and look at photos on Instagram AND watch live videos on Periscope during all these events.
I completely fell in love with Periscope and realized how big this app was going
to be in the social space.
The down side was I got so distracted, I never emailed you and didn’t get many blog posts written.
But overall, I say the good outweighs the bad and I’m thrilled about Periscope.
I’ve never felt so connected to my friends and had so much fun in social media.
If you’re feeling like you don’t want to be on camera because you’re like me and never put on makeup, you can do what I do, and mostly keep myself off camera. LOL
But seriously, I’m LOVING
seeing my friends laid back and without much makeup. In fact, I’ll love you even more if you Periscope without makeup.
Janice has had on no makeup in all of our “scopes” so far. (That’s the new lingo, btw.)
Okay… so it can be a bit overwhelming at first and hard to find all your
friends.
So we’re helping you out with a hashtag and a good old bloggy style linky list.
Yes for those of you long time bloggers like us, who love a good old’ linky list to hop through and quickly find your friends, we’ve made one for
you.
