- Are you as overwhelmed as I am?

Do you feel overwhelmed as a mother and as a blogger?

In both motherhood and blogging, there is a never ending list of work we "should" be doing. That never ending list of important tasks can beat you down!!!

I'm a single mother and a professional blogger, relying on my income as a blogger to support myself and my children.

And to be honest, it's exhausting.

So how do I cope? Well, some days better than others. LOL

But, there are a few main ways I survive and continue to build my business that allows me to work at home while I raise my girls.
  1. Find A Tribe. I'm part of a small Facebook group of like-minded entrepreneurial women who motivate me to push forward. Facebook is a tough thing... it can both pull you down and lift you up. So try to use it wisely. If you're part of a group that is negative, leave it. Find groups that encourage you and where you can share helpful advice and you can learn new tips and strategies.

  2. Outsource. Admit that you can't do it all and hire help. There are lots of Virtual Assistants (VA's) willing to help. We use assistants in a variety of ways. We have two long term VA's who work part time with us... Rachel manages our email and writes posts, and Anna helps with social media and writes posts. Also, we have a couple of other bloggers on call who write various posts. And we often hire other VA's to submit giveaways to directories and prepare round-ups such as this 26 Tasty Cocktails post. Don't be fooled thinking that any professional bloggers are doing everything themselves these days. Everyone is hiring help... there's just too much work for one person to do. Spend time on the tasks you enjoy the most and hire out some of the rest.

  3. Remember There Are Seasons. Life as a parent and as a blogger is made up of changing seasons. Our roles as mothers evolve as our children age and their needs change. Our blogs evolve as the blogosphere changes. But it can be hard to accept change that's out of our control. We may desperately want our children to stay small, but we need to enjoy each new stage. The cliches are all true for a reason. Right now I'm in a busy season of single parenting and I'm very aware of how old my girls are getting. (They're 9 and 11.) I'm trying to enjoy the extra time now when they need and want me to be so active in their lives, because I know the teen years are closing in.
So if you're struggling right now with overwhelm as a mom or as a blogger, know that you're not alone. There truly is too much for you to do. Be kind to yourself.

And as always, I want to be a help to you... so reply back and tell me a few posts that you'd like me to pin for you to help get some more traffic to your blog.

Stay inspired and keep blogging,
Susan
