- Are you writing a holiday gift guide? Should you be?

Published: Tue, 11/08/16

If you’re a blogger, there is never enough time to do everything you want to do to grow your business.

So you need to pick and choose which tasks are highest priority.

And holiday gift guides can be debatable.

Depending on how you write and publish gift guides, they can be incredibly time consuming. Trust me. I know.

But, they are such relevant and sharable content during this shopping season.

I have blogging friends on both sides of this fence.

Some bloggers say the guides take too long and don't have enough ROI. While other bloggers publish gift guides year after year.

And while I may balance a little on the top of the fence, I always jump down onto the side of doing gift guides.

Although… I never have them ready as early as I should.

Yes, at this moment, my queue of work is enormous and my gift guides are not yet written. I do have an assistant helping me write the guides, but she too is swamped with work.

The next couple of weeks will be crazy busy for us.

We monetize our guides by offering some spots to brands and businesses at a sponsored rate. Then we add various products with affiliate links and fill up the rest with editorial selections.

We get a nice amount of traffic to the gift guides and various PR companies and brands find us through our guides and then reach out to us for various review and sponsored post opportunities.

For Christmas, we split our guide into 8-post series based on Gifts for Women, Gifts for Men etc. Then we link them together to form a gift guide post. In the past we also made a downloadable pdf, but last year we stopped taking that extra time consuming step.

You can see our gift guide from last year here.

We also include a linky in our main gift guide post so that you and other bloggers can link up your own gift guides.

If you publish a gift guide, reply and let me know the link and I’ll pin it for you on our Gift Ideas Pinterest Board

Stay inspired and keep blogging,
